16~

hi joyce, this is for you i'm not a fan of blogging things on facebook so here it is on xanga!

Rules:
Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end choose 16 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, its because I want to know more about you.

1. i weigh more than i look

2. i am also way more insanely insecure about myself than i appear to be

3. i secretly wish i knew some martial arts skills

4. i had thought about a career in a top secret spy agency - than realized i had no path towards it as the canadian intelligence is pretty sad on its own, i have no american passport and with my awesome tactless personality, i am in no fit position to become a spy anytime soon.

5. love food, entirely, wholesomely. if i had no other interests and could devote my life to it, i would

6. lost about 15 lbs, pretty much gaining all back

7. weird sleeping requirements: safety blanket, complete silence, complete darkness

8. two words: neat freak. i sometimes wonder if i have OCD because i like re-arranging the face of liquor bottles at the store just so they are all in the same direction

9. i enjoy looking at pretty lingerie

10. i feel like i have good answers for most questions, but the other half of the unknown, i am completely clueless which means i'd like to consider myself as a treasure case of knowledge in certain areas and a Paris Hilton in others.

11.覺得呢幾年過得好快,學左好多野,自覺唔同左好多, 但係要我講有咩唔同, 學左d咩, 我又講唔出
仍自覺一事無成 - i feel just the same...

12. i hate microsoft excel because i suck at it and i'm more technologically-competent than i give myself credit for sometimes. or maybe that's because the average age in my office is 35+.

13. beginning to explore other skills: vivian a desktop publisher?

14. i'm very close to my mom. most days i tell her about most things, some days i choose to say nothing at all.

15. humidity and hot temperatures really get to me

16. as much as i'd like to claim that i am a experienced, worldly traveller who is perfectly capable of going on her own, i can't. it's a lie. i need a companion on all trips - big or small.

Frickity FRICK FRICK FRICK ON A STICK.

Stolen from roommate friend Jenny!

[1.] What did you do in 2008 that you have never done before?
Lived solely on my own for 2.5 months - I learned that I don't cope well living alone... either because I'm accustomed to having people at home or this is a unique situation where I feel more sad when I'm living alone or I'm just naturally the type of person who enjoys company.

[2.] Did you keep all of last years resolutions?
No, I learned not to make any. I never end up keeping them.

[3.] Have you any resolutions for next year?
Think clearly, think of others, and think of myself before making life-altering (and possibly stupid) decisions. Learn to relax a bit more and be more assertive at getting what I want. I would also like to be more pro-active at figuring out my plans and keeping fit. Aqua-fit classes anybody?

[4.] What countries did you visit?
None! What a record...

[5.] What would you like to have in 2009 that you didn’t have in 2008?
Following Jenny, nothing more than I have currently at the moment. Except... maybe more self-confidence and security and ADMISSION OFFERS for September.

[6.] What date in 2008 will remain etched in your memory?
May 22 - convocation day. July 20 - worst fight ever. October 14 - Canadian elections and the first day of my first post-graduation gig.

[7.] What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduating on time and becoming the closest I've ever been to my mom and understanding her.

[8.] What was your biggest failure?
Letting my parents down in a lot of ways that I shouldn't have. It shows them I'm nowhere as mature or well-rounded as they'd like to think I am.

[9.] Did you suffer any illness or injury?
None. Knock on wood.

[10.] What was the best thing you bought?
A sweater... at least that's all I can recall that screams AWESOMENESS!

[11.] Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Probably my own more than anyone else's haha... There's the jerks on the Skytrains who will do short of nothing in order to squeeze in an already-jammed pack compartment...

[12.] Where did most of your money go?
FRIGGIN TRANSLINK, Canada Post, books, clothes, gifts, application fees...

[13.] What did you get really really really excited about?
Graduating and finding a kickass full-time position during the summer... Now it's all about new beginnings... in any way - school, relationship, and of course, CHRISTMAS SEASON!

[17.] What do you wish you’d done less of?
Unnecessary crying and sulking, procrastinating, MSN, internet surfing, shopping and yelling.

[18.] How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family, friends and Gordon (if his flight ever makes it to Vancouver, Godspeed)

[19.] Which LJ/OD users did you meet for the first time?
Zero.

[20.] Did you fall in love in 2008?
Not with anyone new

[21.] How many one night stands?
Zero.

[22] What was your favourite TV show?
GOSSIP GIRL. Ain't no shame in denying.

[23.] Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
"I rarely hate people, and the only person who I can now remember hating I stopped caring about quite long ago.  So no." - excellent statement and ditto. I stopped caring about this person years ago.

[24.] What was the best book you read?
Does it have to be this year specifically? Because it still is The Historian anyday.

[25.] What was your greatest musical discovery?
Santogold

[26.] What did you want and get?
It's like 12am and I am too tired to think about this...

[27.] What did you want and not get?
A kickstart in a career (remotely) related to international relations. Bummer.

[28.] What was your favourite film this year?
It's a tie between Son of Rambow or The Darjeeling Limited

[29.] What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
22nd birthday -- woke up early, made Gordon give me presents and opened them (facial treatment certificate at a spa and Stila's cherry crush lip stain!). Dude went back to sleep while I trekked out in the pouring rain to have sukiyaki lunch with friends. Dinner with Gordon at Takumi in West Van - very cozy location by the boat dock and in the heavy rain. I highly recommend it!

[30.] What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?
I dunno. It's redundant now to ask eh?

[31.] How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Lots of colour! Brights and unusual shades. I enjoyed lots of colourful tops with jeans or basic tops with colourful bottoms during the summer. Lots of sweaters and cardigans for work and in the winter time. Feet wise - boots (with lots of dresses and skirts in the office) and flats.

[32.] What kept you sane?
Lots of time spent thinking, counselling by my mother. And my treasure chest of friends...

[33.] Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
Eva Green, hands down. FEAST YOUR EYES PEOPLE!

[34.] Which political issue stirred you the most?
Obama! Somali Pirates! Yarrrr....

[35.] Who did you miss?
My parents and Gordon when they are constantly away for long periods of time...

[36.] Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year?
I think my pitfall was trying to achieve something that I didn't work hard enough to earn. And not being realistic about my prospects doesn't help in the equation. When life hits the pits, don't kid yourself by holding it all in and pretending to be fine... eventually it boils over. Try reaching out for help. Live life without regrets. This means if you had to choose to do something all over again, it would be the exact same decision you made in the first time even if it means knowing the results would be painful. Be kind and generous to those who you hold dearest to. Never take your parent's unconditional love for granted and when in doubt, ask mom, even if you don't end up taking her advice.

Happy holidays! I wish everyone good health and a wonderful beginning to 2009.
